It’s happened again folks, the end of the month brings us a new hotfix for Deltek Cobra. Deltek Cobra 5.1 5.01.298. It includes a fix that helps with integration and I’m particularly excited. That’s because they’ve fixed a problem with the integration wizard that’s been causing me a few headaches.
In the good old days before hotfix 6, if you were updating status from a Microsoft Project 2007 XML file, you couldn’t click on the Finish button of the integration wizard until you got past the Status dialog. This was because the wizard failed to save your selection in the “Load percent complete from:” field. You always had to set that one manually or suffer embarrassing questions about what happened to the EV in status meetings.
Typically, I’m pulling the Physical Percent Complete data across from Microsoft because that’s the most objective of the three choices. Unfortunately, if I forgot that this field isn’t saved (as I and a few of my customers occasionally have). It defaults to Percent Complete if the field is blank, and promptly screws up your work packages earned values. Ouchy.
However, I just tested it and – behold – they actually fixed it. It’s just as the release notes described. So folks, login to your Deltek customer support account and download Hotfix 6. You can address this issue and fix the other things that have possibly been driving you bonkers as well.
Here’s the evidence – screen shot above taken on second run through after save settings. Awesome.
I had heard a rumor that Deltek Cobra 5.1 5.01.298 also fixed the saving of project views issue, but alas, the rumor is unfounded. Deltek Cobra 5.1 5.01.298 still scrambles your columns to default order whenever you calculate earned value and update totals. Or sneeze too loudly near the mouse. I guess we can’t have it all.
